We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced driver / warehouse operative to join our established community equipment service in Gateshead.
Gateshead Equipment service is a central provider of a wide range of community loan equipment and wheelchairs to support patients in maintaining their personal independence, safety and mobility.
We are looking for an enthusiastic, customer-focused operative who will provide deliveries and installation of loan equipment and collection of loan equipment to patients across the Gateshead and surrounding areas. You will have experience of multi-drop operations and experience in the assembly of furniture / equipment is desirable. You will also support the wider team including warehouse and technical team when required assisting in areas such as repairs, technical installations, decontamination, and removal of equipment. You will also be required to undertake on call on a rotational basis out of hours including weekends.
Main duties of the job
You will have:
* Experience of managing & prioritising workload and being able to multi-task.
* Experience of using electronic patient records / electronic ordering systems, hand-held scanning devices.
* Experience of multi-drop deliveries / warehouse or logistics operations.
* Experience of handling and building up medical equipment and or furniture.
* Experience of troubleshooting problems with equipment including profiling beds, pumps, and mattresses.
* Experience of vehicle safety checks and driving legislation and safe efficient driving.
* Experience of risk assessments, lone working, COSHH and Health and safety legislation.
* Experience of working unsociable hours / on call.
* Must hold a full clean driving licence.
Job summary
This is a full-time role 37.5 hrs based at Team Valley Gateshead.

To provide a broad range of duties associated with delivery and collection of community loan equipment to residents of Gateshead including delivery, fitting, minor repairs and maintenance of equipment, providing instruction of use for all equipment delivered and checking safe use for patients.
To support the preparation / picking of orders from warehouse stock.
Using electronic handheld device to assist in the delivery/collection and tracking all equipment as part of the inventory process.
To support the collection, decontamination and refurbishment and cleaning of equipment returned to store.
To participate in the out of hours service on a rotational basis. The service provides a 24 hour, 7 days a week on call delivery and handover service.

Essential
* Undertake driving duties.
* Moving and handling of equipment.
* Manual dexterity and co-ordination are required to use a range of equipment / tools to carry out adjustments to wheelchairs / equipment.
* Keyboard skills.
* Ability to sometimes work flexibly, including additional or unsocial hours as necessary to meet the needs of the service in relation to continuous care delivery over the 24-hour period.

* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with proven experience of working with professionals at all levels and the public.
