We are currently looking to recruit a Waste and Haulage Management Officer to join the team. The role will be responsible for Managing the Bardon Waste Transfer Station, Internal and external Haulage operations, and other projects with this area. About the Role As the successful candidate you will be required to support the Senior Haulage Officer and other officers in the provision of the Council operated haulage service, waste transfer operations and contract management aspects as required, and provide cover in the absence of the Senior Haulage Officer. Providing visible leadership and direction for the Waste team consisting of Supervisors, Operatives and HGV drivers, you will be responsible for the management and operation of a variety of plant and equipment that will include HGV’s, loading shovels, telehandlers, and any other equipment on site. In addition to Managing the team the successful candidate will assist in; operational performance, financial management, staff training and development, as well as a whole host of other activities, this is to ensure that services provided by the Council are robust enough to deliver the desired outcomes and meet all statutory duties and responsibilities. This position requires a proactive and flexible attitude to work, time-management and problem-solving. About You To apply for this post, you must: Relevant Degree; or Substantial equivalent experience of management of haulage and/or waste operations Developing and working in successful partnerships or contractual relationships Knowledge of relevant waste disposal and treatment legislation and /or driver and vehicle legislation and fleet operational practices Use of business systems and processes to support the efficient delivery of services. Able to prioritise effectively, keeping ordered and accurate records. Leading and managing a front-line operational service. This will include the effective management of Health and Safety and risk. Excellent communication and presentation skills including the ability to shape and influence to achieve successful outcomes and to continue to build on the credibility of the Waste management team and its services You must also have an understanding of, and commitment to, equality, diversity and inclusion.
