The Role We are looking to recruit a Security Officer to join the Security team at University Hospital Wishaw The Security Officer Will Have The Following Responsibilities To be observant in helping to reduce/ prevent crime on the UHM Site To assist in providing a safe and secure environment for Patients, Staff, Visitors To undertake regular patrol of the internal and external site of the UHM sites. To provide help and advice to Patients, Visitors and Staff To be an advocate for NHSL whilst undertaking their role. What We'll Need You To Bring The post holder will be expected to gain an understanding of a range of work procedures gained through induction and training. The required skills include but are not limited to. Level of H&S Knowledge in line with NHSL and departmental policies and (SOP’s) Communication skills that are supportive, empathetic, compassionate and have the ability to de-escalate difficult conversations Knowledge of site lay out Basic knowledge of CCTV Requires a professional and sympathetic approach to people To be physically fit and be able to understand and react correctly and quickly to incidents remaining competent under pressure. Use of communication equipment Use of monitoring systems Completion of mandatory training as specified within core competencies Must be capable of writing accurate reports Violence and aggression Training – Level 1 &2 Enhanced Disclosure Scotland clearance To be competent in the use of all department equipment/ personal protective equipment Whilst it would be an advantage for new members to have had previous experience in the security industry, it is not essential. All staff will be required to undertake on the job training. All staff must successfully complete the training.
