Are you looking for an exciting opportunity to work in Falmouth Hospital as an Occupational Therapist, where you will be part of our dynamic and developing service?
As a team, we offer a supportive working environment where you can further develop your clinical and interpersonal skills. We have a structured in-service training programme, supervision and appraisal system, and you will be actively encouraged to participate in the student education programme.
Main duties of the job
As an Inpatient Occupational Therapist, you will be expected to hold and manage a moderately complex clinical caseload and facilitate appropriate discharge from the hospital. You will demonstrate competent skills in the assessment, treatment, and rehabilitation of patients with a wide variety of long-term/acute medical conditions and be responsible for the development of support staff through regular supervision and appraisals. You must have excellent communication skills with an empathetic and caring nature. You will need to be highly organised and have experience of working in older person’s services. You will need a UK driving licence and the ability to travel to various locations to facilitate hospital discharges.
It will be an expectation of this post that if needed, the person works flexibly across all areas of the Central Integrated Therapy Team to include the Community Rehabilitation Team and Home First. Seven-day working could become an operational requirement of this post in the future.

* Competent skills in assessing and treating a wide variety of patients
* Knowledge and experience in the management of elderly care especially falls
* Awareness of discharge options and agencies and the reablement approach
* Skills in psychological care
Education, Qualifications and relevant Experience
* Professional qualification – Occupational Therapist
* Membership of the Royal College of Occupational Therapy
* Professional Registration - HCPC
* Experience of managing complex situations
* Post graduate qualification to diploma level or equivalent relevant experience
* Evidence of professional knowledge acquired through specialist courses or experience to post-graduate equivalent diploma level
