Job Title: Regulatory Compliance Engineer
Location: Halifax, NS.
Salary: $85,206 – $106,389
What you’ll be doing:
1. You will establish and maintain a comprehensive register of UK and Canadian legal and regulatory requirements relevant to the RCD, ensuring up-to-date and accurate documentation.
2. You will be responsible for mapping Canadian legal and regulatory requirements to UK and European standards, ensuring all mappings are accurately reflected in the RCD database for compliance purposes.
3. Be the primary point of contact between the central Governance team and the RCD project teams, you will monitor any amendments or updates to current legal and regulatory requirements, ensuring seamless communication and compliance alignment.
4. Work closely with Delivery Teams and Technical Authorities (TAs) to confirm and identify applicable legal and regulatory requirements, assisting in the gathering and verification of compliance statements and evidence.
5. Establish and maintain a comprehensive body of evidence to demonstrate that all legal and regulatory requirements have been met, or equivalence has been demonstrated, ensuring robust documentation for audit and regulatory purposes.
Your skills and experiences:
1. A degree in a relevant subject such as Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, or equivalent work experience.
2. Actively working towards achieving an appropriate level of professional certification with a relevant professional body, demonstrating a commitment to continuous professional development.
3. Extensive knowledge of Canadian legislative frameworks and how they operate, particularly in relation to compliance and regulatory matters.
4. A solid understanding of maritime legal and regulatory aspects, including relevant laws, standards, and operational requirements in the maritime sector.

The Engineering team:
You will be joining the endeavour to deliver Canada’s largest Defence Procurement and the build programme as part of the BAE Systems River Class Destroyer team. We are based both in Halifax, Nova Scotia, and Glasgow, United Kingdom. This collaborative, cross-regional team works seamlessly together as one unified group. In your role, you will serve as a key point of contact between our smaller team in Canada and the larger team in the UK, ensuring smooth communication, alignment, and coordination across both regions. Based in the Halifax office, you will be part of a supportive and dynamic team that is dedicated to helping each other succeed and achieving our collective project goals.
