I am recruiting on behalf of a client within the circular economy sector who is seeking a skilled Control and Electrical Engineer for a short-term contract role. The focus of this project is a micro-scale anaerobic digestion system, which will be used to manage food waste on a social housing estate.
This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced engineer with a background in PLC systems, particularly Siemens S7-1200, to work on a project that’s part of a wider initiative in sustainable waste management.
Key Responsibilities:
*
Review Existing Documentation: Assess and analyse schematics and technical documents from the previous plant.
*
Design Alterations: Design and implement wiring and control system modifications based on new PFD/P&ID and control description supplied.
*
System Reprogramming: Reprogram the Siemens S7-1200 PLC system, including updating the HMI mimic diagram to reflect the new plant layout.
*
Rewiring: Oversee rewiring of the existing control panels and extension panels, or supply detailed schematics for a third-party panel builder.
*
Site Wiring: Manage the rewiring of the control system on-site, or provide schematics for third-party electricians to complete the work.
*
System Commissioning: Commission the updated control system at the new site.
*
Documentation: Produce and deliver comprehensive documentation for the reworked control system.
Technical Requirements:
*
Proficient in working with Siemens S7-1200 PLC or similar systems.
*
Strong experience in control system programming and HMI design.
*
Ability to rework control panels and provide schematic designs for panel builders and electricians.
*
Experience in commissioning control systems on-site.
*
Familiarity with PFD/P&ID documents and their application.
Ideal Candidate:
*
Based locally in or near Wiltshire (preferred for ease of on-site work).
*
Previous experience with micro-scale anaerobic digestion systems or similar environmental technologies.
*
Knowledge of and interest in circular economy principles, particularly food waste management and sustainable energy.
*
Ability to work independently and deliver quality results within a tight deadline.
Project Context:
This project is part of an exciting circular economy initiative within a social housing estate, aiming to manage food waste sustainably. The system includes three process tanks and storage for biogas and biofertiliser, making a meaningful impact on waste management and energy production.
Potential for Future Opportunities:
If the initial contract is successful, there is potential for additional contracts with the client, as they continue to roll out similar projects. This could offer ongoing opportunities for the right candidate
