Southglade Primary & Nursery School are looking to appoint a hardworking and highly motivated Level 3 Teaching Assistant to join our friendly and inclusive nursery team.This post is suitable for a level 3 qualified (or equivalent) teaching assistant Contract: Fulltime and permanent Salary: Grade GLPC-E / Spinal point 12 - £26421 Start date: Tuesday 22nd April 2025 (or as close to this date, dependent on notice period) This role will be to support the teaching and learning in the nursery setting. You will be expected to work closely with class teachers to support with the planning, delivery and assessment of a broad and balanced curriculum, working inside the classroom and delivering small group interventions e.g. SALT, pre-teaching and 1:1 support. This may also include working 1:1 with SEND children and covering the class in the absence of the teacher. As we are a nursery and primary school, there may be an expectation in the future to support in other year groups across school. As a level 3 Teaching Assistant you will be expected to: • Support all pupils to participate and progress in learning activities using effective strategies that reflect their individual needs and targets • Contribute to the planning and evaluation of teaching and learning activities • Provide phonics, early maths and communication and language support to individuals and groups to enable them to access the wider curriculum • Carry out specified work to assist or support the work of the class teacher. Specified work includes: o Planning and preparing lessons for pupils; o Delivering lessons to pupils; o Assessing and reporting on the development, progress and attainment of pupils. • Effectively implement the school’s behaviour policy, applying it fairly and consistently within clear boundaries and reinforcing positive aspects of behaviour • Contribute to the safeguarding of all pupils • Establish and maintain positive relationships with pupils by communicating effectively, allowing them to feel valued and listened to, encouraging questions and ideas • Provide support to pupils where English is not their first language • Support with the delivery of learning activities in the absence of the class teacher e.g. when providing class cover supervision or working with pupils outside the classroom • Contribute to maintaining accurate pupil records, following relevant procedure and always ensuring confidentiality • Work alongside the class teacher to ensure the learning environment, learning resources and materials are ready for use in activities • Develop positive relationships with families, taking a partnership approach so that support is provided both at the school and at home and share information where appropriate • Undertake duties when needed at playtimes, lunchtimes and Breakfast Club • Escort and supervise pupils on educational visits, lunchtime provision and out of school activities, including the running of after-school clubs • Work as part of a team drawing on strengths and expertise to best support teaching and learning • Adapt to different situations and be flexible, according to the needs of the children and staff • Be punctual and on time for the working day, duties, lessons etc. In return, we will offer the successful candidate: • A positive working environment where everyone is valued • An environment where good behaviour and good manners are a priority • A supportive Senior Leadership Team • An ethos of mutual respect where we listen to and value all contributions • High quality professional support and development Please also refer to the Nottingham City Council Job Description Teaching Assistant Closing date: Tuesday 25th March 2025 - 9:00am Interviews will take place on: Monday 31st March 2025
