The role of TOTEX Site Manager - Civil Operations is a new role to build and develop the competencies, capacity, and techniques necessary to deliver a healthy and safe workplace environment, excellent customer experience and efficient civil engineering project delivery.
This role is a critical line manager position within NGN, reporting directly to the Totex Business & Programme Assurance Manager for NGN’s Capital Delivery works. The post-holder will be expected to contribute to the tactical direction of the NGN business, Site Civil, Groundwork Operations and NGN inhouse Special Operations team specifically covering a wide range of civil engineering work types.
Key Accountabilities And Responsibilities Will Include:
1. Oversee the planning and execution of construction projects, ensuring they are completed efficiently and safely.
2. Oversee the selection and requisition of materials and plant equipment.
3. Make cost-effective solutions and proposals for the intended project and manage from the outset.
4. Manage, monitor, and interpret the contract design documents supplied by the NGN design team.
5. Liaise with clients, subcontractors, and other professional staff, especially quantity surveyors and the overall project manager.
6. Provide technical advice and solve problems on-site.
7. Prepare site reports and complete all other specific paperwork.
8. Ensure project packages meet agreed specifications, budgets, and or timescales from a quality control perspective.
9. Ensure the safety of the site and adherence to health and safety regulations at all times.
10. Delegate work to site staff and manage their workload and output.
What we are looking for in our TOTEX Site Manager - Civil Operations:
1. Proven work experience in construction management or a similar role delivering construction projects, for example concreting, security fencing, general civil engineering, all aspects of ground works and reinstatement works.
2. Strong communication and negotiation skills, attention to detail, and the ability to problem-solve.
3. Certifications such as Certified Construction Manager (CCM), SMST, NEBOSH General, deep excavation, NRSWA will be advantageous and ideally educated to an HNC, HND or related field.
4. Plan daily work schedules and coordinate workers on-site.
5. Inspect construction sites regularly to identify and eliminate potential safety hazards.
6. Prepare and submit project estimates and budgets and manage throughout.
7. Maintain communication between all stakeholders such as project managers, site staff, and clients.
8. Can lead, motivate, and manage a team effectively at all times.
9. Strong verbal and written communication skills to liaise with clients, subcontractors, and team members.
10. Aptitude for identifying issues and developing effective solutions promptly.
11. Excellent organizational skills to prioritize tasks and manage time efficiently.
12. Understanding of construction methods, materials, and regulations.
13. Attention to detail and thoroughness in planning and execution to ensure quality and safety.
14. Use financial acumen to manage budgets, cost control, and financial planning.
15. Strong negotiation skills to handle contracts and manage stakeholder relationships.
16. Expertise in planning, executing, and monitoring project progress.
17. Flexibility to adapt to changing project requirements and environments.
18. Skills to resolve conflicts amicably and maintain a harmonious work environment whilst using strong collaboration skills to work effectively with diverse teams.
19. Ability to analyse data and make informed decisions using analytical thinking skills.
What We Offer:
1. Starting salary £52,948 to £60,007 (in line with the TOTEX Site Manager Progression Framework).
2. Up to 10% bonus as part of the TOTEX Site Manager Incentive scheme.
3. £6,500.00 per annum company car/cash allowance.
4. 41.25 hours per week on a variable work pattern, including participation in the managers' standby/callout rota.
5. Free onsite parking.
6. 25 days annual leave (plus recognised bank holidays and 2 half days over the Christmas period).
7. SSP for first 2 calendar days then occupational sick pay.
8. A generous stakeholder 5/10 pension scheme.
