CAMHS is a specialist mental healthservice for children and young people who have moderate to severe mental healthproblems. The service offers face toface clinic based and video conferencing approach to delivering care andassessments over four sites across the county.
Abrand-new post has arisen for a Medical Secretary working for WorcestershireCAMHS. We are looking for anenthusiastic, experienced individual to join our team on a permanent basis. The successful candidate will be working 30hours per week, over 4-5 days, to be discussed with the successful candidate. The base will either be Redditch, Worcesteror Kidderminster, again this will be discussed with the successful candidate.
Main duties of the job
You will be working as a band 4 Medical Secretary for WorcestershireCAMHS providing an efficient and smoothrunning secretarial service to the Psychiatrists / Consultants. You will make arrangements forappointments as required. Maintain a diary and appointment system for clinicsand make arrangements for special appointments for patients/ relatives,consultations in the home and emergency visits as required. Handle telephone enquiries regardingappointments, cancellations referring where necessary to the appropriateperson. You may also be asked to coverreception across the Worcestershire CAMHS localities.
Theability to use your initiative, work proactively, demonstrate excellentcommunication and influencing skills, manage and prioritise your own workloadand respond flexibly to changing demands are essential requirements of therole.

Job description
Job responsibilities
1. Work as part of the MedicalSecretary team to provide an efficient and smooth running secretarial serviceto the Consultants.
2. Make arrangements forappointments as required. Maintain a diary and appointment system for clinicsand make arrangements for special appointments for patients/ relatives,consultations in the home and emergency visits as required.
3. Handle telephone enquiriesregarding appointments, cancellations referring where necessary to theappropriate person and acting within the guidelines laid down.
4. Undertake shorthand/audio/copytyping duties, including reports, clinic letters, discharge summaries and otherconfidential documentation. Some self-generated non-routine correspondence maybe required.
5. Follow up, collate diagnosticand therapeutic reports to Consultants and other medical staff and subsequentlyfile in patients notes. Identify urgent results and bring to Consultantsattention. Ensure that case notes are controlled, delivered and tracked.
6. Ensure patient notes are filedat the earliest opportunity to ensure that patients case notes are as accurateand up-to-date as possible.
7. Act as receptionist at clinics,if required, dealing with patients and their carers by assisting with enquiries.
8. Undertake other general officeduties, which may include facsimile, e-mailing, photocopying, scanning andfiling.
9. Attend service and clinicalmeetings, as required and provide feedback to colleagues
10. Deal with incoming and outgoingpost.
