The Osteoporosis Nurse Specialist, in partnership with the lead clinicians, is responsible for the optimization of osteoporosis management services. The Osteoporosis nurse specialist has the lead role in conducting research and audit within the department, in conjunction with the Matron, setting clinical standards within osteoporosis nursing across the Trust and local area using evidence-based practice. They will work independently, receiving direct referrals from primary and secondary practice and advising on relevant treatments for patients with osteoporosis. They will interpret results and act on them in providing advice and treatment to patients.
Main duties of the job
1. To ensure the provision of a high-quality comprehensive Osteoporosis service to both inpatients and outpatients within University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust.
2. To ensure the most effective use of resources and manpower to achieve Rheumatology departmental and Trust objectives.
3. To support the planning and development of the service in accordance with the Trust's policies and procedures.
