Maintenance Engineer (for double day shift)

The Maintenance Engineer is responsible for the first level escalation of breakdowns within the factory. Working as part of the shift engineering team, ensuring breakdowns are fixed promptly in line with priorities. The breakdowns include mechanical, electrical, and controls. The Maintenance Engineer is also responsible for the completion of preventative works orders.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
Operational
1. Direct engineering resource to ensure that preventative maintenance schedules and systems are completed in line with system timeframes, whilst continually reviewing their effectiveness.
2. To ensure that plant changeovers are carried out promptly, with measured efficiency.
3. To ensure that parts are available and are always in good working order.
4. To respond swiftly and effectively to breakdown and emergency situations, making effective use of all resource.
Health & Safety
1. To make the workplace a safe environment by ensuring:
a. All company and legal requirements are met and maintained.
b. Safety equipment is properly maintained, checked, and recorded.
c. Safe working practices are always promoted with all checks and job signoffs completed.
Quality
1. To ensure all Quality Management Systems are adhered to and properly documented.
2. To work with Production and Quality teams to improve and develop operating practices which enhance product quality and customer service.
3. To ensure full compliance with Company Quality, Food Safety, Health & Safety and Environmental requirements.
4. To assist with the integration of new equipment with the manufacturing, operations, and project teams.
CANDIDATE PROFILE
1. A recognised engineering apprenticeship qualification, Level 3 engineering qualification or equivalent is beneficial. Other appropriate experience or qualifications in a related field of manufacturing is advantageous.
2. Experience within a high-volume manufacturing maintenance environment is seen as an asset.
3. Strong general electrical and/or mechanical engineering skills and knowledge.
4. A logical thinker and problem solver with a positive and proactive mindset to problem resolution and energy to get things done.
5. Experience in the food or consumer products industry is seen as an asset.
6. An awareness of HACCP, PUWER, LOLA, and COSHH.
7. Good communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate with both suppliers and internal customers.
