Due to internal promotion, we now have an exciting opportunity for a Laboratory Analyst to join our laboratory team based in Aberdeen. The Laboratory Analyst will work together with the Laboratory Team to carry out microbiological testing.
ABOUT YOU
We are looking for a proactive and enthusiastic Laboratory Analyst who has worked within a laboratory testing environment. You will have enthusiasm for science and wish to develop technically within Microbiology. The Laboratory Analyst will play an active part in ensuring the highest quality of service to clients and adherence to standards.
Required skills and experience:
* Degree/Higher National Certificate or at least 3 years experience working in a UKAS accredited laboratory
* Highly proficient in computer programs such as MS Office and data entry/recording
* Willing to be “hands-on” working at all levels
* Ideally have relevant laboratory experience with test methods and their routine application
* Ability to work on own initiative
* Manage and prioritise workload in a fast-paced environment
* Previous experience of water or food testing methods would be a distinct advantage
ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
As a Laboratory Analyst, you will support the completion of microbiology testing and services, to provide safe, accurate, reliable and efficient testing services to our customers. You will be required to work in a laboratory environment, routinely applying Good Laboratory Practices.
Key activities:
* Perform sample analysis in accordance with both approved technical standards and client requirements as directed by senior team members
* Stock-taking and receipting of consumables for the section
* Report all technical faults and non-conformance issues to the line manager, providing technical information as required
* Responsible for ensuring that all samples received in the laboratory are correctly recorded and processed to client requirements within the appropriate time frame
* Perform necessary equipment maintenance to ensure they remain within acceptable operating and (where appropriate) valid calibration standards
* Provide support for new projects, method development and validation work
* Perform stock-taking and receipting of consumables for the service line
