Job Description:
A leading Tier 1 Contractor is seeking a Civil Engineering Planner for major civil engineering projects in Ireland. Based in Belfast, the Senior Planner will manage planning and programming during tender, preconstruction, and construction phases, liaising with clients, consultants, and stakeholders.
Reporting to the Project Director, you will lead planning efforts, developing methodologies and programmes for pre-construction and construction activities.
Your Responsibilities:
* Create and review construction schedules and planning deliverables, including philosophy, reports, and presentations.
* Provide technical support, identifying scope, constraints, contract requirements, and major quantities affecting the programme.
* Establish and analyze the project’s critical path.
* Communicate effectively with team members throughout all project phases.
* Apply resource levelling techniques.
* Present detailed or high-level project programmes.
* Ensure compliance with building contract requirements for programme submissions.
* Provide periodic updates to support delivery reporting.
Experience/Knowledge:
* Operational experience as site engineer/site agent and planning experience in civil/infrastructure projects.
* Proficiency in planning tools like P6 and Asta Powerproject.
* Understanding of construction processes, engineering principles, and buildability considerations.
* Knowledge of JCT and NEC contract planning requirements.
* Experience in planning, programming, progress monitoring, and risk management.
* Understanding of construction methods, equipment, and labor needs.
Skills:
* IT literate with proficiency in planning software.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
* Ability to liaise with clients and internal teams.
* Proactive, organized, and detail-oriented.
* Self-motivated with a positive attitude.
* Strong organizational and planning skills.
Qualifications:
* Relevant construction industry experience.
* Recognized qualifications in construction or technical disciplines.
