Job overview
We offer cardiac screening for patients affected or at risk of inherited cardiac conditions. The ICC team also has a unique specialty of sports cardiology, providing advice and care to athletes with underlying cardiac conditions. This is an exciting time for service development with our team, with ongoing plans to advance our care and the role of the specialist nurse within our service.
The post offers an excellent opportunity to develop skills in ECG recognition, arrhythmia and device management, and the expert understanding of ICC’s and genomic healthcare. Formal and informal teaching, developing autonomous practice and service development will also be encouraged.

Main duties of the job
This is a fixed term post for 12 months with the potential for substantive recruitment.
The ICC team at St George’s Hospital offers specialised care for the diagnosis, symptoms evaluation and management of patients and families affected with inherited cardiovascular conditions. We work in close partnership with the Charity Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY) with a focus on families with unexplained sudden death (Sudden Arrhythmic Death Syndrome – SADS).
The service offers dedicated clinics with a family centred approach providing an integrated "one stop" shop assessment. Clinics are dedicated to cardiomyopathies, inherited arrhythmias, paediatric arrhythmias, familial evaluation after a sudden cardiac death, sports cardiology, as well as an aortopathy service.

Qualifications and Training
* Registered Nurse
* Relevant post graduate/registration cardiac course, ENB 100 or equivalent.
* BSc degree (or equivalent) in associated subject.
* Has attained or is working towards a master’s degree in relevant subject or has equivalent experience.
* All staff are expected to take responsibility for their own continual personal development
* SLICE / ENB 998 or equivalent teaching qualification.
* Genetic/ Counselling training
* Aortopathy experience
* Advanced Physical Assessment qualification
* Experience working with children/ teenager
Experience and Knowledge
* At least 4 years cardiothoracic Nursing experience.
* Aware of current issues in cardiac or ICC Specialist nursing
* Experience of working as a nurse specialist.
* Research and audit experience, indepth knowledge of EP/cardiomyopathy/aortopathy and genetic risks.
Skills
* Managing the care of patients with ICC’s.
