This role will involve class teacher responsibility in KS1 with two afternoons per week for SENDCo role.
Black Firs Primary School is a happy, successful 1.5 form primary school with a popular 52 place Pre-school, based in Congleton, Cheshire. Following the promotion of our current SENDCo to Assistant Headship, we are looking to recruit an experienced, enthusiastic and committed SENDCo join our team, based as a class teacher in KS1, with two afternoons per week out for SENDCo responsibilities.
The successful candidate will work alongside our Adaptive Teaching Lead and Headteacher to continue our commitment to inclusive practice based on EEF 5 a day. The SENDCo role will give the successful candidate the opportunity to become part of our SLT (a great way to prepare for Assistant/Deputy Headship in the future). The SENDCo at Black Firs is also part of our safeguarding and wellbeing teams, so an opportunity to train as a DDSL is available.
We have wonderful children and supportive parents. Children are motivated to learn, are well behaved and deserve the best that we can give them. Our school values are based on Mastery, Generosity, Independence and Belonging. SENDCos within the Trust are all supported on their ongoing CPD from The Learning Partnership Trust team including a SENDCo network and we are keen to help support staff with ongoing professional development such as NPQs.
Our SENDCo will also be taking on the role within our literacy team, working alongside our Deputy Head who is Reading and Phonics lead for school. If you are passionate about Literacy and the power that high quality texts can make on writing then perhaps becoming our new Writing Lead will be your next exciting new challenge! We are a Literacy Counts school and love Ready Steady Write, Spell, Read Together and Phonics and we also love Greg Bottrill's Drawing Club and Quests.
This is an exciting opportunity to implement the Trust agreed provision for SEND and gifted and talented children and interventions, working as a member of the leadership team.
Under the direction of the Headteacher, you will determine the strategic development of special educational needs (SEN) and co-ordination of specific provision to support individual pupils with SEN or a disability. You will need to help line manage our SEN TA team and support the SEN interventions across the schools, working closely with the Deputy Head Teacher, who is our Wellbeing lead. The successful candidate will have experience with Cheshire East SEND procedures and will be familiar with documentation for applying for EHCPs and annual reviews.
The successful candidate would be employed as a teacher under the STPCD and will hold specific duties in the role of SENDCo.
We are inviting applications from qualified teachers who hold the national SENCo qualification, but would also be keen to hear from outstanding class practitioners who would be willing to undertake the national NPQ SENCo qualification and may have worked as an Assistant SENCO or Inclusion lead previously.
The Trust subscribes to the Education Staff Wellbeing Charter and places staff wellbeing at the forefront of its strategic people priorities. Our ongoing commitment in this area is reflected in our employee offer that includes:
* Discounts in retail stores, entertainment, and supermarkets
* Benefits schemes in affordable tech, cycle2work, gym memberships and a car scheme
* Employee assistant programme providing specialist advice and guidance
* Flexible working
* Free parking
* Access to high quality CPD and secondment opportunities
Deadline for applications is Tuesday 29th April at 12pm. Applicants are invited to visit the school prior to their application, please contact office@black-firs.co.uk to arrange a visit.
Interviews will be held on Friday 2nd May 2025 at Black Firs Primary School
