Job Purpose
The purpose of the role is to provide financial accounting support to the UK Reporting team.
Responsibilities
1. Responsible for revenue reporting of several Data business units, including a high profile and strategically important revenue stream that requires strong knowledge of revenue recognition accounting principles. This includes recording accruals and credit note provisions, investigating and explaining significant variances, customer contract reviews and ensuring all activities are completed in a timely and accurate manner.
2. Ensuring adequate reconciliations from the general ledger to the billing system and its associated production systems.
3. Involvement in the monthly financial close process including Profit and Loss analysis, Balance Sheet reconciliations, recording cost accruals and prepayments, and processing of intercompany charges.
4. The keeping of all financial records, accounts and schedules to the requirements of the auditors and generally accepted accounting standards and practices.
5. Complete and submit Royalty reports.
6. Preparation of accurate management information, including financial statement preparation and management reports, on a timely basis.
7. Preparation of annual statutory accounts.
8. Assisting with the identification, documentation and conclusions on accounting treatment under different GAAP regimes.
9. Working with foreign subsidiary accounting/business functions to ensure appropriate reporting and controls maintenance including reconciliation to externally produced financial statements.
10. Maintenance of Sarbanes Oxley process documentation in specific areas of responsibility, ensuring controls are undertaken as documented.
11. Acting as back-up for other members of staff in their absence as appropriate.
12. The performance of such other duties as may be required from time to time by the Financial Reporting Manager and Financial Reporting Director.
Knowledge and Experience
1. University degree or equivalent professional experience and professional accounting qualification is essential (ACCA, CIMA).
2. Previous experience in Revenue Accounting is required, with a preference for experience handling high volumes of data.
3. Strong knowledge of theory, generally accepted accounting principles and practices, applications, and terminology of accounting, including financial statement preparation and knowledge of US GAAP, UK GAAP and possibly IFRS.
4. Proficient in Microsoft Office, with exception expertise in Excel required. Previous use of accounting application systems such as Oracle is desirable.
5. Highly developed personal communication skills, both written and oral.
6. Good attention to detail, self-motivated and self-starter.
7. Ability to apply technical knowledge to analyse data and explain to stakeholders.
8. Ability to work towards tight deadlines.
9. Clear commitment to the team approach exchanging ideas and providing support to colleagues.
