Overall Purpose of the Job
The Building Services Technician (Shift Plant Operator) will be responsible for monitoring and adjusting plant to a set of prescribed instructions. The plant includes, but is not limited to, steam raising boiler plant and its associated equipment. This role involves assisting all grades of Building Services Technicians in the full range of installation, improvement, and maintenance activities. All work will be carried out efficiently within a framework of 'best value'. Daily interrogation and adjustment of Building Management Systems (BMS) via a site-based PC is required. Occasional visits to campus-based plant rooms and other University areas will be necessary as part of the daily shift routine, including understanding and acting upon alarms received via the BMS/telephone or instruction (i.e., Security, Supervisors).
