Make your mark for patients We are looking for a Senior Scientist who is enthusiastic and creative to join us in our Medicinal Chemistry group, based in Slough, UK. About the role As a Senior Scientist in Discovery Chemistry at UCB you will play a vital role as a key contributor of a large, multi-disciplinary matrix team from project inception through to delivery of clinical drug candidates. You are a creative lab-based chemist able to work autonomously under strategic guidance, able to generate and integrate results from own discipline and related functions to propose next steps. You will provide key contributions to the implementation of medicinal chemistry strategies through the design, development and execution of innovative chemistry. You strive to acquire a broader knowledge of drug discovery issues and ability to create solutions to facilitate project delivery. Who you’ll work with You will have regular interactions with key stakeholders within Global Chemistry and adjacent departments. What you’ll do Deliver impactful results that drive medicinal chemistry delivery, with high productivity meeting performance metrics. Assisting an area of SAR development through judicious application of medicinal chemistry resources and teamwork, to deliver tangible results that enable quality scientific decisions to be made in a timely manner. Critically assesses program data, independently derives SAR understanding and generates critical hypotheses to address project challenges. Provides balanced contributions on synthetic and medicinal chemistry. Demonstrates strong synthetic chemistry expertise to enable the timely delivery of key target molecules. Influences project direction and presents medicinal chemistry results. Contributes to matrix team discussions on significance of data and interpretation thereof. Interested? For this role we’re looking for the following education, experience and skills PhD (or equivalent) in a relevant chemical science with strong organic and synthetic chemistry theoretical and laboratory background. Industrial and/or academic Post Doc experience in organic/medicinal chemistry. Fully independent in designing and executing complex synthetic routes for organic compounds.
