The post holder will carry out Dermatology outpatient clinics including a weekly paediatric dermatology clinic, a minor skin surgery list under senior supervision, and attend a once weekly consultant-led ward round. There will be the opportunity to assess acute Dermatology referrals on the wards and in the out-patient department. The research component of the post will comprise working with the Dermatology research team to support the running of clinical trials and other research studies in the department. There is no on call commitment. The post holder will help to provide cover for the Dermatology SpR during times of leave. Time will be allocated for Continual Professional Development in Dermatology with attendance and participation in regional and national meetings encouraged. The post holder will have an induction period at the start of the job in order to receive training in clinical dermatology and research. This post is ideally suited to those wishing to progress to higher specialist training in Dermatology and prior experience or enthusiasm to learn about the specialty is required.
Main duties of the job
This Clinical Fellow post offers the opportunity to develop clinical and research skills in Dermatology and would be ideal for anyone wishing to pursue higher specialist training in this area. The post is full time and is based in the Department of Dermatology at Poole Hospital. The role will involve providing clinical care for dermatology patients and a clinical research component for 2 days per week.

Person Specification
Qualifications and Training
* MBChB or equivalent medical qualification
* Full Registration and a Licence to Practice with the General Medical Council
* Presentations/Publications
* MRCP or equivalent
Skills, Knowledge and Aptitude
* Clinical judgement: experience in making clinical decisions and managing risk. Knows when to seek help, able to prioritise clinical need.
* Practical skills: shows aptitude for practical skills and willing to learn basic skin surgery techniques
* Basic computer skills including use of Microsoft Word and Outlook
* Previous experience of skin surgery
Experience
* Evidence of achievement of Foundation competencies by time of appointment in line with GMC standards in Good Medical Practice.
* Evidence of achievement of ST1/CT1 competences in a relevant specialty at time of application and likelihood of achieving ST2/CT2 competences in a relevant specialty by the start date of the post (or equivalent experience).
* Experience of research at undergraduate or postgraduate level
