This is an external vacancy and is not employment with East Riding of Yorkshire Council.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and caring individual to support our 9-year-old daughter to access activities in the community for 6 hours per week during the school holidays. We would like someone with a lot of energy and patience who can work on their own initiative when out and about. The ideal candidate will have some experience of working with children with Autism, be conscientious, reliable, and maintain safety at all times.
She is happy, caring, and loves to make people laugh. Her favourite activity is swimming; she also loves messy play, outdoor activities, going to parks, farms, and soft play. She would like somebody fun and energetic to be able to join in activities with her.
She finds flashing lights, busy and noisy environments overwhelming and will need an adult to manage these situations carefully.
She has a diagnosis of Autism and is non-verbal. However, she has a good understanding of what is being said to her when simple language is being used.
She has a preferred communication system to communicate her wants and needs and interact with others. Mum will be able to share more information about this.
She can access the community with support from an adult to hold her hand and keep her safe and does use a wheelchair for longer distances or in environments which present with more risks.
As we are based in Bridlington, it would be beneficial for the candidate to have a valid full UK driving licence and access to a car to be able to access a variety of social and leisure activities.
