About Me: I am looking for people to support me in Canterbury both at home and in my local community. I like to be busy and enjoy spending time with animals, family & friends, going out to socialize and learning new skills. I will need people to support me all day in my home and the community with developing independent living skills, staying safe, maintaining a healthy lifestyle, managing anxiety and challenges specific to me. I can find time with my own thoughts challenging and need caring people to support me with these feelings. Shift Patterns This is a bank contract, if you lead a busy life and want to pick up a few shifts here and there, this would be ideal for you. We have a wide range of shifts including mornings, afternoons, nights and weekends. Please note that the shifts may vary. Role Responsibility About the role I need my support workers to be caring, patient and understanding. My support workers need to be mindful of the language they use when communicating with me. The role will include supporting me in my own home and in the community. The role will include supporting me in difficult times and good. You will be required to work alongside specialists in multi-disciplinary teams. this may include Phycologists, Occupational Therapists, Social Workers and more. The Ideal Candidate You should be Experienced in supporting people with Autism and Mental Health diagnosis. Be resilient, patient and understanding. It will take a while to be able to develop a strong bond with me. Be consistent in your support approach. Be able to use language effectively to enable me to widen my opportunities. You should have: The right attitude and a good sense of humor Motivated to support me with a busy schedule. A good attendance record. The ability to work well as part of a team and independently, and with other professionals involved in my support. This is a specialist supported living support service in Canterbury and we have high expectations for our staff. You will receive all the necessary training prior to supporting the person and this will take place locally.
