ROLE PURPOSE Reporting to the Integration Manager, the Integration Production Engineer is responsible for executing the duties of the Integration Department within the Pickering Group, including fabrication, assembly, and integration of ATE systems. This role involves using SolidWorks to create, update, and maintain models of ATE systems, managing bills of materials (BOMs), and overseeing the procurement of components. The expectation for this role is that the candidate will grow and develop into an independent engineer capable of managing multiple projects within the integration and production process. There are also many opportunities for development in areas such as electronics production and design, software, mechanical fabrication, and mechanical design, allowing for a broad and diverse skill set to be cultivated. Key Responsibilities Mechanical Design & Fabrication: Use SolidWorks to create and update detailed models, assemblies, and technical drawings for parts, enclosures, and cabinets. Build, prototype, and fabricate components using CNC machining, 3D printing, and traditional machining techniques. Apply practical fabrication skills to produce both small components and larger enclosures for test systems. Integration & Production Management Serve as the primary production resource within the team, ensuring that all components meet design and quality specifications. Manage Bill of Materials (BOMs) and oversee orders for test systems, ensuring accurate and timely material procurement. Coordinate production schedules, track progress, and maintain documentation throughout the production process. Electronics & Assembly Assist with electronics integration by applying basic electronics knowledge, including soldering and understanding electronics manufacturing processes. Collaborate with electronic engineers to ensure seamless integration of mechanical and electronic components. Process Improvement & Quality Assurance Develop and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) for production, design updates, and order management. Identify opportunities for process improvements, cost reductions, and efficiency enhancements. Ensure quality control at every stage of production and integration. Team Collaboration & Communication Work closely with the Integration Manager and cross-functional team members to align production activities with project goals. Communicate effectively about progress, challenges, and solutions across mechanical design, production, and order management. Qualifications And Experience Educational & Professional Background: No formal degree required. Equivalent practical experience in mechanical design, production, or a related field is highly valued. Experience with CAD software is essential. Experience in the test and measurement industry is valued. Technical Expertise Proficient in using SolidWorks to create and update mechanical designs. Hands-on experience with manufacturing technologies, including CNC machining, 3D printing, and traditional machining/fabrication methods. Basic electronics knowledge Practical experience in soldering and an understanding of electronics manufacturing processes. Understanding of CNC sheet routing limitations and capabilities. Practical Skills Strong fabrication capabilities with attention to detail. Demonstrated ability to manage production processes independently in a fast-paced, small-team environment. Experience in managing BOMs, procurement, and production orders. Project & Communication Skills Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills. Proven ability to manage projects, meet deadlines, and adapt to changing priorities. Strong verbal and written communication skills, essential for collaboration with a multidisciplinary team.
