The team also comprises of several non-medical prescribers supporting clinicians in chemotherapy clinics, independently prescribing SACT, managing toxicities and providing support and advice to patients. The Trust has recognised the significant and meaningful impact the cancer pharmacist team has on cancer care delivery and has approved further expansion of the team as a result.

The successful post holder will work cross-site, predominantly based at RDH site to provide a range of services to our patients:
• Clinical pharmacy service to our wards (2 oncology wards, 1 haematology ward and 2 palliative care wards) ensuring the safe and effective use of medicines
• Clinically screening chemotherapy prescriptions for inpatient, outpatient and daycase treatment
• Product approval and final release of aseptically prepared chemotherapy
• Be a part of a collaborative multi-disciplinary team working with nurses, specialist nurses, registrars and consultants to deliver a safe and effective chemotherapy service
• Work with the Advanced Pharmacists to review and update guidelines and treatment protocols
• Attendance at MDT, clinical management group and cancer pharmacy team meetings to assist in meeting team and divisional objectives.
• Deliver educational sessions to junior pharmacists and other colleagues and help to develop rotational and trainee pharmacists
• Participation in quality improvement projects and audits within Cancer Services with opportunities to have work published at national and international cancer care platforms (e.g. BOPA, ASCO).
• Opportunity to complete the Postgraduate Diploma in Independent Prescribing and contribute to the assessment, management and prescribing of chemotherapy within specialist outpatient clinics and inpatient areas.
