We’re looking for a Kitchen Assistant. In this role, you’d be making a real difference to the work of the National Trust, as well as helping to give people a memorable day out. Wherever possible, we aim to offer a consistent working pattern, but we're looking for flexibility as it may be necessary for us to alter this pattern from time to time to suit the needs of the business. We'd give you as much notice of this as possible. The role will include weekends and Bank Holidays, however, there are no evenings or split shifts. This is a seasonal role. Hours will mostly be worked during weekends and school holidays. Shifts will be any time between 8am and 6pm. Salary: £11.50 per hour. What you'll be doing As a National Trust Team Member focusing on the back-of-house team, your role will be vital in supporting the smooth running of our kitchen and food preparation areas. You’ll ensure everything is clean, organised, and ready for service, maintaining high standards of hygiene and efficiency. Your responsibilities will include cleaning dishes, utensils, and equipment, as well as ensuring all workspaces are tidy and meet health and safety requirements. You may also assist with basic food preparation and stock management, helping the kitchen team deliver high-quality food to our visitors. Teamwork is essential in this busy and dynamic environment, and your reliability and attention to detail will make a big difference to the team’s success. With a proactive and can-do attitude, you’ll be ready to help wherever needed, ensuring the back-of-house operations run smoothly. We’ll provide a tailored induction, training in food safety and allergens, and mentoring to support you in your role.
