Our client: A leading supplier of sustainably sourced products is currently recruiting for a Senior Engineer to join their friendly team in Haverfordwest.
Job Description/ The role: The ideal candidate will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the site Engineering function, ensuring that the team works safely, effectively, and efficiently to provide engineering support to ensure milk and cream can be packed on time and in specification, while at optimum cost. This role requires expertise in various engineering disciplines and a strong problem-solving aptitude.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Manage the day-to-day engineering team including management of time sheets, hours worked, holidays, training, absence, and disciplinary reporting any concerns to the Engineering Manager in a timely manner.
2. Provide day-to-day management of staff to maximize the efficiency and effectiveness of resources.
3. Ensure that preventative maintenance routines are developed and in place in accordance with equipment manufacturer specifications and reviewed regularly.
4. Oversee breakdown repairs ensuring that the work is carried out in a safe and timely manner.
5. Ensure that the engineering workshop and stores are maintained accurately and cleaned regularly.
6. Using BE and KPI’s to review the existing processes throughout the engineering department and identify and implement solutions that increase efficiency, reduce costs and waste, and increase profitability.
7. Actively seek and identify constraints and create opportunities for continuous improvement throughout the operation to maximize efficiency rates, including identifying the effective use of staff.
8. Ensure that external contractors on site operate in a way that is consistent with the site's Health and Safety policy and in a timely and efficient manner.
9. Maintain an accurate training record and highlight areas where training is required and deliver necessary training where applicable.
What we need from you:
1. HNC in either mechanical or electrical discipline or a recognised engineering apprenticeship.
2. Experience of working in an FMCG environment.
3. Proven experience in mechanical engineering with a focus on system design.
4. Computer literate with strong report writing skills including previous experience of CMMS, SCADA, HMI's, and Microsoft Office.
5. Strong knowledge of logic controllers and their applications in engineering systems.
6. Strong experience as a multiskilled engineer with previous leadership experience.
7. Process oriented with the ability to identify, resolve, and escalate problems where necessary.
8. The successful candidate will have excellent problem-solving skills, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
