Purpose of the role:
This unique role exists to enable the production of in-house and outsourced powertrain software, hardware, and calibrations for our future Hybrid and Electric powertrain families.
Managing key component owners and their suppliers to deliver OBD capability and calibrations for the Hybrid powertrain on test beds, rigs, and in vehicles, resulting in a comprehensive and fully functioning Hybrid system that meets global regulatory requirements and programme objectives.
Your Key Duties & Responsibilities:
1. Lead and manage Hybrid OBD activity within the Motion Control team on defined vehicle programmes as defined by the Head of Hybrid Concept and in line with global regulatory requirements and direction from AML OBD Technical Expert.
2. Define key software architectures to allow AML to deliver competitive hybrid and future electrified powertrain solutions.
3. Be the point of contact for defined customers and suppliers regarding Hybrid OBD requirements. Define and validate all requirements for the OBD system within the Hybrid environment, ensuring that they meet all cost, time, and quality targets.
4. Ensure Hybrid OBD requirements are agreed and verified in line with the system design specification and high-level Vehicle requirements.
5. Manage the progress and reporting for all Hybrid OBD deliverables, ensuring they meet all cost, time, and quality targets.
6. Deliver and maintain an understanding of the role OBD plays within the hybrid vehicle platform to the wider OBD team. Guide, direct, and train to develop wider Powertrain and SW&ET team members.
7. Manage and support powertrain software and calibration activity on defined projects, assimilating and distributing knowledge within the wider team.
8. Represent the company externally at a senior level regarding calibration activities and supplier visits.
9. Prepare reports of all findings from test bed, rig, vehicle testing, and environmental testing of the vehicle, and present these to all levels up to director technical meetings.
10. Initiate and prepare modifications to the calibration for future model year actions.
11. Manage and specify software and hardware/tools to support development activity.
12. Manage the calibration database for all responsible programmes.
13. Working with members of the Motion Control, SW&ET, ICE Powertrain, and ePowertrain teams at all levels.
14. System experience with ETAS Inca, Canalyzer, Canape, CRETA, Polarion, Simulink is preferred.
