Applications are invited from experienced Health and Care Professions Council registered Biomedical Scientists to join our team.
You must have professional knowledge and technical expertise in Diagnostic Cytology attained either through a relevant master's degree, Higher Specialist Diploma, or extensive experience working in a Cytology department. A good understanding of the principles of current practice in this area of expertise is essential. The department is proactive and forward-thinking, having recently established a Rapid on-Site Evaluation (ROSE) clinic for processing EBUS samples. Please note that gynaecological cytology processing and screening are not carried out in this department.
The applicant must have extensive experience working in a Cytology service and a solid understanding of current practices in this field.
The applicant will:
* Manage and coordinate the day-to-day technical activities of the Cytology section of the laboratory service.
* Be responsible for standards and quality performance of the Cytology section, including instrument and procedural troubleshooting.
Process a broad range of specialist and routine laboratory diagnostic investigations in the Cytology department using various scientific measurements and technical procedures on patient samples.
* Work with the Pathology Manager to plan, coordinate, and review staff development programs, including performance and training. You will have delegated responsibility as the departmental training manager.
* Participate as part of the management team within the Pathology Department.
Evidence of active participation in Continuing Professional Development is required.
The post is based at the NHS Forth Valley laboratory, which provides Pathology and Cytology support to the acute hospital and General Practice.
