Job summary
We are looking for a Ward Manager tojoin our friendly nursing team within our Adult Services Directorate in Torbay toprovide operational leadership for Salus Ward.
You will becomepart of a supportive multi-disciplinary team, using your skills, experience andleadership to help define and deliver a package of care to people on one of ourmixed gender wards that helps them on their road to recovery. The role isdynamic and challenging and we are looking for someone who is highly motivated,innovative and enthusiastic who can demonstrate an eagerness for the on-goingdevelopment of the service.
As a Ward Manager,you will need excellent communication and leadership skills to ensure collaborativework with patients, utilising the well-being and recovery model, to provide thehighest quality of care.
You will have theconfidence and skills to support your team to respond to both the physical andmental well-being needs of your patients in partnership with amulti-disciplinary team and be a strong advocate for your patients. Thesuccessful candidate will need to demonstrate sound experience of riskassessment and management and will be committed to the principles of patientand carer involvement; as well as showing expertise in budgetary management andbeing able to understand and meet performance criteria.
Main duties of the job
You will be aRegistered Nurse (Mental Health) with post registration experience, includingsignificant experience in a Band 6 position. In return we offer a highlysupportive and cohesive multidisciplinary team with a wide range ofopportunities to further develop your abilities and career.
You will haveexperience of working in a team. The role involves communication, so we expectthat you have excellent verbal and written skills.
Interactingwith patients and the public you will be confident in giving non-clinicalinformation and advice that improves their experience. Dealing with sensitiveinformation daily, you will understand the importance of data security.
You will oftenwork under pressure and without direct supervision, so we are looking forsomeone confident and capable. You will prioritise tasks, and manage your ownworkload, providing support for your colleagues where required.
You will becomean important part of the team, working to ensure that every patient receiveshigh quality care. You may be required to support the induction of new staffmember, demonstrating activities to them and providing supervision to supportadministrators.

1. Post Registration Qualification and experience in a health or social care subject. ( RMN, Social Work, OT, Psychology).
