The Role
Maternity Cover for 1 year
The Commercial team plays a critical role in driving growth, profitability, and market competitiveness by balancing customer needs with financial objectives while navigating competitive and regulatory pressures. Reporting into the Commercial Director, this Head of Core Commercial will lead a team to deliver business development, revenue optimisation, commercial governance, supplier connectivity, pricebook & setting guardrails. Working alongside key business stakeholders to ensure cost optimisation, maximising revenue and commercial propositions & partnerships, to deliver the anticipated margins for the business with the customer at the Core of what we do. Commercial plays a key governance role to ensure TalkTalk can remain competitive and maintain their position in the market.
Role Expectations
* Lead Commercial Governance, including business case, pricebook, and commercial guardrails, to aid strategic decision making.
* Lead on Business Development projects and initiatives to deliver long-term strategic direction for the business.
* Lead on commercial strategy and budget objectives, ensuring resource, controls, and initiatives are in place to realise the business plans.
* Lead external supplier discussions, influencing external negotiations, to ensure commercial levers and performance metrics are fully validated and communicated to senior stakeholders and external parties.
* Strong market knowledge to understand customer preferences, emerging trends, and competitor activities to shape the commercial strategy.
* Providing expert telco commercial expertise on projects led by other teams where required, representing the Commercial team to ensure a long-term, strategic view is put forward.
* Provide leadership & coaching to direct reports to deliver company & commercial strategy and objectives.
Knowledge, Skills & Experience
* We’re seeking a high calibre individual with strong commercial acumen and negotiation ability, with excellent analytical and numeracy skills to support solid commercial decision making for TalkTalk.
* They will have the ability to build multi-level relationships across TalkTalk and the gravitas to command respect when presenting to Senior Management and external suppliers.
* Excellent stakeholder management, clear and concise communication and working with other TalkTalk functions to ensure cross-functional success is key.
* They will have the ability and personal skills to enable visualisation of an opportunity and communicate to stakeholders and contributors; this includes the ability to create business plans and models for C-suite review and evaluation.
* The successful individual will be a proven agent of change, able to organise, coordinate and deliver in complexity. They will have a strong background in delivery and implementation of complex opportunities.
* They will be capable of bringing ideas, being disruptive and having a degree of pace and urgency.
