Applications are invited for a Paediatric Junior Clinical Fellow fixed term post to start December 2024 for 3 months.
The successful applicant will work in our Paediatric Unit, Observation and Assessment Unit and High Dependency Area, with ample opportunities to learn from middle grade registrars & Consultants with varied sub-specialty interests.
The post holder will join the existing team of consultant paediatricians, specialty doctors and specialty trainees working in the Paediatric Directorate which is part of the Women and Children’s Division of The Royal Oldham Care Organisation part of the Northern Care Alliance.
The Royal Oldham Hospital has a single inpatient paediatric ward with 24 Paediatric beds including 4 HDU beds. There is also a 24 hour Paediatric observation and assessment unit (POAU).
• The post holder will be expected to work within the provisions as set out by the GMC.
• Duties will include tier 1 cover for Inpatient Paediatrics and Paediatric Assessment Unit at the Royal Oldham Hospital.
• Emergency assessment in Paediatric Accident and Emergency Department when requested.
• Undertake ward rounds including Children’s Ward and POAU
• Participating in Computerised Discharge Summary (CDS) writing and ensuring that these are completed within 24 hours of discharge.
• Undertake night duties when on call.
• Assisting Consultants in the Outpatient clinics and dictation of letters in a timely fashion.
• Participation in the departmental training activities including clinical case presentations, audits, journal clubs, monthly resuscitation drill etc.
