Full Time, Fixed-Term
Applications are invited for the post of a Research Fellow in the Low Temperature Group in the department of Physics at Royal Holloway, University of London.
This will be a key role in the project “Silencing the noise in quantum circuits by a Quantum fluid Bath – SQuBa”, a joint project between the Quantum Technology Department at the National Physical Laboratory (NPL) and the Centre for Advanced Quantum Science and Technology at Royal Holloway University of London. This project, funded by EPSRC (EP/Y022627/1), is founded on an internationally unique combination of interdisciplinary expertise in superconducting quantum techology, benchmarking of qubits, study of decoherence sources in such devices, quantum fluids and ultra-low temperature technology.
The candidate will join a team of seven investigators at Royal Holloway, where this post will be based, and RHUL/NPL joint PhD students. Royal Holloway is a partner in the Oxford-led QCI3 Quantum Hub. We are collaborating with the following project partners: SQMS Quantum Center (Fermilab); Chalmers University, Karlsruhe Institute of Technology; University of Glasgow, Louisiana State University, Google Quantum AI, Oxford Instruments.
You will have prior experience in low temperature technology, including dilution refrigeration, qubit manipulation and readout, and associated rf technology. You will have computer programming skills, and experience of simulation packages. You will be a good communicator and the ability to work in a collaborative team, with national and international partners.
We offer a highly competitive rewards and benefits package including:
Generous annual leave entitlement
Training and Development opportunities
Pension Scheme with generous employer contribution
Various schemes including Cycle to Work, Season Ticket Loans and help with the cost of Eyesight testing.
