We are looking for a Network Construction Lead Operative to join our team and be responsible for managing significant, large scale construction activity across multiple sites.
EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW
As our new Network Construction Lead Operative, you’ll be responsible for successfully completing the Main renewal scheme activity as allocated on a particular site. While ensuring our customers safely receive a constant supply of good quality drinking water.
You’ll be the senior member of the Construction team on site and will coordinate the activities of colleagues, providing support and guidance as required. You’ll also be responsible for risk assessing and delivering DMA Main Renewal schemes in accordance with the relevant SSOW and SOPS.
Additionally, you’ll ensure that all DMA renewal schemes are delivered to ST high quality standards whilst adhering to company ODI targets. The role holder will also oversee and support contractors and other external stakeholders on site.
This role requires a 42-hour work week, Monday to Friday, starting at 7:00 AM and ending at 4:00 PM, with a half-hour early finish at 3:30 PM on Fridays.
Key Accountabilities:
* Ensure CDM compliance on site, i.e. responsible for the health, safety and well-being of team members, site visitors, contractors and members of the public, in accordance with CDM regulations.
* Communicating with the on-site team to ensure the quality, quantity, and understanding of tasks ahead are carried out safely and effectively and liaise with external stakeholders such as utility providers, asset owners, companies, local authorities, and customers.
* Identifying and mitigating against potential hazards. Documenting findings in a daily dynamic risk assessment and ensure full compliance with SOPS for all activities undertaken on site.
* Responsible for actively managing any impacts, depending on the activity being carried out. Includes impacts on the wider organisation, customers, external businesses and organisations (e.g. blocked roads, traffic management, bursts, supply interruptions etc) and deliver the construction work to a planned budget.
WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO THE ROLE
For this role, the right candidate will have experience of working on Mains Renewal schemes and/or a formal NCO Qualification, working within a utility-based industry. While co-ordinating activity and supporting a team, liaising with internal and external stakeholders in a construction environment.
You’ll have the ability to demonstrate awareness and practical experience of CDM Regulations, identify risks & opportunities, and be trained in Utility Avoidance and Location, Thrust Boring, Safe Digging and 360 Excavator below 10T. You also have completed all NRSWA modules.
Additionally, knowledge and understanding of Mains Renewal processes, options, and associated risks, ability to work effectively and efficiently in a high-pressure environment, make prompt clear decisions, have excellent communication skills, and have experience of co-ordinating activities and supporting a team, preferably in a construction environment.
As travel is required, you’ll also have to hold a full U.K driving license.
