Quality Engineer / Quality Manager
At 5S Recruitment, we’re thrilled to present an exciting opportunity for a Quality Engineer / Manager Designate to join a thriving organisation with the chance to shape and lead their quality assurance efforts for the future. This role is not just about today it’s about progression. With mentoring, training, and performance reviews, the successful candidate will be on track to become the next Quality Manager as the current Quality Manager plans for retirement over the next 2-3 years, giving the Quality Engineer to absorb invaluable methods, tips and tricks from the outgoing Quality Manager.
The Role:
As Quality Engineer, you’ll be on the front line dealing with customer and internal quality issues, working alongside a talented team of quality supervisors and senior inspectors. You’ll be integral to establishing and improving product and process quality standards, playing a key role in both new product introduction and day-to-day quality management. As part of your journey, you’ll grow into the Quality Manager Designate, preparing to take full control of the quality and environmental management systems.
Key Responsibilities
1. Quality Engineer
1. Lead the development and improvement of product and process quality standards for new and existing products.
2. Work closely with manufacturing teams, customers, and suppliers to ensure quality is at the forefront.
3. Be the go-to for customer quality concerns, investigating issues, tracking them to financial closure, and providing comprehensive reports.
4. Take part in customer and supplier visits as needed, ensuring strong partnerships and efficient communication channels.
2. Quality Manager Designate
1. Progress into the development, control, and management of quality and environmental management systems.
2. Lead process mapping and documentation development for business processes and transactional work instructions.
3. Conduct and manage internal and external audits to ensure compliance and support new product introductions.
4. Monitor and review customer scorecards and track business key performance indicators, reporting to senior management.
5. Develop the commercial understanding of quality impacts on the business, enabling better operational decisions.
6. Grow into a leadership role, managing and guiding the quality team across multiple sites.
Your Background
1. Engineering-based Degree / HND or equivalent qualification, or solid experience within the plastics manufacturing industry.
2. ISO9001 / 14001 qualified auditor.
3. Practitioner of the IATF core quality tools.
4. Proven success as a Quality Engineer / Manager, focusing on product and process improvements.
5. Experience managing teams to drive improvements, with a strong grasp on data collection, analysis, and reporting.
6. IT proficiency across Microsoft platforms, ERP systems and customer websites/portals.
