Youth Worker - Harrow Location - Long Term role - Immediate Start
The Role
As a Youth Worker at our SEMH school, you will play a vital role in supporting students with complex emotional and behavioural needs. The Youth Worker will work closely with students, staff, and families to provide tailored support that promotes the students' personal, social, and academic development. This is a unique opportunity for a Youth Worker who is dedicated to helping young people overcome challenges and achieve their potential.
Key Responsibilities:
The Youth Worker will build strong, trusting relationships with students, providing emotional support and guidance.
Work with the teaching staff to develop and implement individualized support plans for students.
The Youth Worker will facilitate small group sessions and one-on-one interventions focused on social skills, emotional regulation, and conflict resolution.
Assist in managing challenging behaviour in a calm and constructive manner, using de-escalation techniques.
The Youth Worker will serve as a positive role model, encouraging students to engage in school activities and take responsibility for their behaviour.
Collaborate with families, external agencies, and professionals to ensure a comprehensive support network for each student.
The Youth Worker will help organize and lead extracurricular activities that promote teamwork, self-esteem, and resilience.
Monitor and report on student progress, adjusting support strategies as needed.
The Youth Worker will be involved in the development of school policies and initiatives aimed at improving student well-being.
Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities to enhance your skills as a Youth Worker.Qualifications:
Experience working as a Youth Worker, particularly with young people who have SEMH needs, is highly desirable.
A deep understanding of the challenges faced by students with social, emotional, and mental health difficulties.
The Youth Worker should have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to connect with and inspire young people.
Patience, resilience, and a strong commitment to making a difference in the lives of students.
The Youth Worker must be able to work flexibly and adapt to the varying needs of the students and the school.
