The Role: We are looking for an organised, enthusiastic, and caring individual to join our team as one of two Directors of Studies. This is a leadership role that involves overseeing student progress, managing tutors, and ensuring a supportive and enriching educational environment. Key Responsibilities: Supervision : Overseeing up to 20 students, ensuring academic progress and personal well-being from theirinitial interview to completion of courses Designated Safeguarding Lead: To be the DSL for Bartholomews Tutorial College, being supported by the Deputy DSL to resolve and address all safeguarding issues UCAS Advisor : Providing support with university applications, including advice on choices, personal statements and the application processes Pastoral Care : Offering guidance and support to students both academically and with regard to their wellbeing, sign posting to external services and liaising with parents Timetabling : Development and management of student timetables Tutor Recruitment : Helping with the recruitment of new tutors for the college Tutor Management: Guiding our(approx) 25 tutors on supporting their students and liaising with them on any issues that may arise Administrative Support : Assisting with general admin tasks when required Exam Aadministrative Support : Supporting the exams officer with mocks and official exams, including invigilation, the set up of exams Student Exam Access Arrangements : To work with the exams officer, parents, students and external parties to ensure students have the appropriate exams access arrangements Individual Tuition : The potential for up to 3 hours per week of one-to-one tuition with students Skills required Strong communication skills with the ability to educate effectively and engage with students of varying ages. Excellent organisational skills to manage multiple tasks efficiently within a busy educational setting. Patience and empathy towards students, understanding their individual needs and challenges. Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, staff, and parents to support student development. Problem-solving skills to address student concerns or conflicts promptly and effectively.
