We have an exciting opportunity to be part of our East Learning & Belonging team, working to improve educational outcomes for Children in East Dorset, aiming to set up high quality teaching and learning experiences for our children and young people in schools or without current placements. This is a secondment opportunity for 6 months which will provide you with a real understanding of the complex work and fast paced work that our Inclusion Leads undertake supporting children & young people, schools & other education settings, and professionals.
As the ideal candidate, you demonstrate:
* a child-focused approach: Prioritising the well-being and interests of children, ensuring their needs guide decision-making.
* effective communication: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills enabling successful collaboration with diverse individuals and agencies.
* experience of setting targets: Monitoring and reporting on progress against these targets.
* a proven track record: Successful work with children and young people in a school/education and/or social care context as well as experience of supporting children where professionals have been unable to engage them with education.
* an awareness of quality assurance
* monitoring and reporting: Progress, attendance, and attainment.
* trauma-informed approach: The ability to work in a trauma informed way to support our children and young people to achieve.
* flexibility: The ability to work flexibly within a team environment.
* caseload management: The ability to manage an ever-changing caseload.
You will need to have an understanding of the education system and be a flexible team member, committed to supporting some of our most vulnerable children and young people. Ideally, you will have some knowledge or understanding of the work across the following areas:
1. Elective Home Education;
2. Children Missing Education;
3. School Attendance;
4. Alternative Provision;
5. Suspensions and Permanent Exclusions;
6. And other areas as required.
Learning and development opportunities linked to the strategic priorities of the Learning and Belonging Team will be made available to our Inclusion Lead.
A willingness to work flexibly to meet the needs of the East Learning and Belonging Team is important. You must have a vehicle (or transport we deem suitable) available for use as needed as you will be visiting schools and families.
