We offer each person an individually tailored holistic programme of support using a person-centred approach. We aim to support the individual to reach their full potential by setting goals and targets which are worked towards at a pace best suited to the individual ensuring they have the support to achieve their goal. We promote independence and empower individuals to be actively involved in all aspects of their lives and their care.
Our ethos is to support each child/young person and their families by the provision of a high quality and specialised environment. The home is functional, comfortable and personalised to meet individual needs. Supporting adults respect and value the individuality of the child/young person encouraging them to express their views and preferences wherever possible. Our aim is to enable each child/young person to achieve success emotionally, socially and academically and to enjoy their time at Dan Y Coed.
Position: Support Worker
As a Support Worker at Dan Y Coed, you will play a crucial role in the lives of our young people, supporting their daily activities, educational needs, and personal development. You will work closely with a magnificent team including teachers, therapists and other support workers to create a nurturing and inclusive environment.
Responsibilities
1. Provide personalised care to each person in their daily activities, including personal care, learning and social interactions.
2. Foster a safe and positive environment, ensuring the emotional and physical well-being of each person.
3. Implement individualised care plans, under the guidance of an incredibly supportive senior team.
4. Support our young people during recreational activities, outings and community integration.
5. Collaborate with the wider team to maintain accurate records and documentation.
6. Promote independence, self-esteem, and confidence in our young people, celebrating their achievements and milestones.
Requirements
1. A compassionate and caring nature, with a genuine desire to make a positive impact.
2. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships.
3. Resilience and patience when faced with challenges, adapting to individual needs.
4. A willingness to learn and follow guidance from the team.
5. Basic IT skills for record keeping and communication purposes.
6. Flexibility to work on a shift basis, including weekends and occasional night shifts.
7. Driving Licence preferred but not essential.
