Job Overview: My client is seeking a highly organised and experienced Site Manager to oversee the refurbishment of a school in Surrey. The successful candidate will take full responsibility for managing the day-to-day site operations, ensuring the project is delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards. Key Responsibilities: Oversee all on-site activities and manage subcontractors, suppliers, and direct labour. Ensure strict adherence to health and safety regulations, especially in a live school environment. Coordinate with the project manager, client representatives, and local authorities. Monitor project progress and report regularly on status, risks, and issues. Manage site logistics, deliveries, and storage of materials. Maintain accurate site records including daily diaries, permits, and H&S documentation. Ensure minimal disruption to school operations and maintain a secure and clean site. Organise and chair regular site meetings with contractors and stakeholders. Requirements: Proven experience as a Site Manager on refurbishment or construction projects, ideally within the education sector. Valid SMSTS (Site Management Safety Training Scheme). CSCS card (Black or White). First Aid certification. Excellent communication, leadership, and organisational skills. Enhanced DBS clearance (or willingness to obtain one). Strong knowledge of health & safety, CDM regulations, and safeguarding procedures. Ability to manage tight deadlines and multiple trades in a live environment. Desirable: Experience working on school refurbishments or projects in sensitive environments. Asbestos Awareness certification. Temporary Works Coordinator qualification
