This school looks after children who have been diagnosed with Autism and many of these children also have co-existing issues such as social, emotional, and mental health needs.
The school needs a youth mental health support worker to support their students in their day-to-day activities.
The students that attend this school are between the ages of 4 and 16. Each child has a personalised educational and health care plan and individual intervention plans designed to help them thrive. As a youth mental health worker, you will ensure that they are able to complete their academic work while also helping them navigate through their emotions. You will also help them learn functional life skills, aiding their independence.
What you can expect as a Youth Mental Health Worker:
* Deliver specific interventions designed with the student, their needs, and goals in mind
* De-escalate any meltdowns and behaviours that may occur
* Help the children work through their big emotions
