Our client is looking for a Senior Design Engineer on a contract basis.
As the Senior Design Engineer, you will have expertise in civil engineering design, particularly with a focus on using Site3D and PDS (Professional Design System) for drainage and road projects.
This role will involve working on a variety of high-profile civil projects, delivering innovative and technically robust designs to meet client requirements and industry standards.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Lead the design of civil engineering infrastructure projects, including roads, drainage, earthworks, and site layouts, using Site3D and PDS software.
2. Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior and intermediate design engineers.
3. Work closely with multidisciplinary teams to ensure designs are integrated and meet project requirements.
4. Review and produce detailed design drawings, specifications, and reports for civil engineering works.
5. Conduct site assessments and surveys to ensure designs are aligned with on-site conditions and constraints.
6. Ensure that designs comply with relevant local, national, and industry-specific regulations and standards.
7. Oversee and coordinate project timelines, resources, and budgets to ensure timely and cost-effective project delivery.
8. Liaise with clients, stakeholders, contractors, and authorities to address design queries and resolve technical issues.
9. Manage and deliver design proposals for tenders and new projects.
10. Keep up-to-date with new design software, engineering practices, and technological advancements within the civil engineering field.
Key Requirements:
1. Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in Civil Engineering or related field.
2. A minimum of 5+ years' experience in civil engineering design, with a focus on infrastructure projects.
3. Extensive experience using Site3D and PDS for design purposes.
4. Strong understanding of civil engineering design principles, standards, and regulations.
5. Proven ability to manage and lead design projects from concept through to construction.
6. Experience in designing roads, drainage, earthworks, and other infrastructure elements.
7. Proficient in AutoCAD and other design software as required.
8. Excellent communication skills with the ability to work effectively with clients, teams, and stakeholders.
9. Ability to mentor and support junior engineers and foster a collaborative working environment.
10. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt to changing project requirements.
11. Chartered Engineer status (or working towards) with a recognized professional body (e.g., ICE, IStructE) is preferred.
Desirable Skills:
1. Knowledge of additional design software or systems, such as MicroStation.
2. Experience in the design and management of sustainable drainage systems (SuDS).
3. Understanding of BIM (Building Information Modeling) processes and tools.
4. Familiarity with construction and contract management processes.
