Our client is a well-established, yet rapidly growing accountancy practice based in York. Due to their medium-term plans to offer a management buy-out, they are looking to appoint an ambitious and energetic Accountant, who is ready to break the norm and push the boundaries of new age accountancy.
Working as part of a small senior management team, you will have the autonomy to develop your own portfolio of clients and that of the practice, whilst integrating modern systems and processes across the business.

A week in the life…
A typical week in this role will be highly varied, starting your day either in our clients York based office, at a networking event or for those times when you really need solitude to focus on client work, from home if you prefer. There will be daily contact with clients, providing support on queries across the full spectrum of finance, filing accounts and providing tax and business advice. You will be encouraged to build your own network.
Key roles and responsibilities
* Managing a portfolio of clients and being responsible for providing an excellent customer experience.
* To work within the existing accounts preparation team, preparing more complex accounts for sole traders, partnerships, and incorporated businesses.
* Reviewing accounts and managing groups of clients through their filing deadlines and requirements.
* Preparing tax computations and advising clients on tax issues alongside tax planning opportunities.
* Preparing associated income, partnership, and corporation tax returns.
* Overseeing various filing requirements throughout the year for clients.
* Running client meetings
* Supporting clients through the transition from manual records to cloud software.
* Assisting the firm in progressing and improving its internal procedures around client onboarding and ensuring compliance.
* Managing and developing junior members of the team in the preparation of accounts.
* Reviewing accounts and tax returns prepared by other team members.
* Networking in order to build your own network of professionals.
* Managing the team in respect of their targets, their workload and their career development. Running weekly team meetings.
Skills and Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will:
* Have a minimum of 6 years practice experience.
* ACA/ACCA qualified is highly desirable, although QBE would be considered with 10+ years relevant experience
* Have a desire to progress their career within the firm
* Have strong Microsoft Office & IT skills
* Have good, working knowledge of Xero and SAGE
* Have strong communication skills.
