We’re looking for a qualified Solicitor, Barrister, or Fellow of the Institute of Legal Executives with demonstrable experience in Local Government Commercial Property. You should possess a robust understanding of local government law and have hands-on experience in preparing cases and drafting legal documents. Your professional confidence will shine through as you lead on challenging cases and provide high-level advice. With excellent communication and collaboration skills, you’re ready to engage with our clients and stakeholders. You’ll possess extensive knowledge of property law, with a particular emphasis on commercial property conveyancing, and demonstrate a strong understanding of local government law as it relates to property. You’ll have the capability and experience to manage a wide range of land and property transactions from the council's portfolio, including the preparation, negotiation, and completion of leases, licences, easements, and development agreements for both residential and commercial properties. Furthermore, you’ll be well-versed in the Landlord and Tenant Act 1954, particularly in relation to protected and excluded tenancies, and have a solid grasp of statutory provisions regarding regeneration projects, specifically in the context of compulsory purchase orders. You will have a sound level of knowledge on the Building Safety Act, Fire Safety Act and related legislation around local authority building safety and regulatory compliance. Additionally, you’ll be knowledgeable about land registration law and procedures, particularly under the Land Registration Act 2002 and relevant Land Registry Practice Guides.
