As a member of our Medic 5 iOS Engineering Team, based in Belfast, you will be working on a high-profile new product which ESO is launching in winter 2024/25, that will revolutionize the EMS marketplace and fundamentally change the way Ambulance crews and clinicians provide and track the medical care they provide. Partnering with Apple to build the new EHR iOS app in an innovative iOS Native architecture that will allow ESO to use many of the out of the box features and functions you will find on an iOS device. Reporting to the Development Manager you will be part of our Engineering team.
What you’ll be doing – the day to day:
You can expect to:
* Design, develop, and maintain automated tests (unit, integration, UI, and functional) for iOS (Swift) mobile applications.
* Collaborate with Product Engineering to understand app requirements and prioritize testing efforts.
* Collaborate with Engineering and DevOps Teams to integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines.
* Work closely with iOS developers to identify potential issues early and advocate for best testing practices.
* Work with product and release management to control risk, improve quality, and streamline product release cycles.
* Improve the efficiency and performance of automated test suites for iOS.
* Develop and execute performance and load tests to validate app stability under various conditions.
* Track and report metrics for test coverage, code quality, and defect density.
* Monitor and analyze test failures, identifying root causes and driving bug resolution.
* Implement real-time monitoring to detect app crashes, performance bottlenecks, and other issues in production.
Who You Are - some of the essential things required to be successful in the role:
* 3+ years of experience as an SDET or similar quality-focused role, with an emphasis on iOS mobile applications.
* Strong hands-on experience with iOS frameworks and testing tools (e.g. XCTest, XCUITest).
* Knowledge of relevant programming languages e.g. Swift and/or Objective-C.
* Experience with CI/CD pipelines (e.g. Xcode Cloud) and tools (e.g. Jenkins).
* Knowledge of device and simulator testing for iOS, including troubleshooting and debugging mobile apps.
* Proficiency in source control systems like Git.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a focus on driving solutions.
* Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment.
* Self-motivated with a passion for delivering high-quality user experiences.
Who you are – it’s desirable if you have experience of any or all of the following;
* Familiarity with mobile testing frameworks such as Appium or Detox for cross-platform testing.
* Proficiency in testing and optimizing for iOS-specific constraints like battery efficiency, memory management, and network performance.
* Familiarity with OWASP Mobile Security Testing Guide (MSTG) for identifying potential vulnerabilities.
* Experience with mobile accessibility testing and localization testing.
