Role Overview:
The Purchasing and Works Order Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the procurement of a wide range of parts and materials, including bearings, hydraulic components, wearing parts, and rubber, sourced both domestically and internationally. In addition, the role involves creating and processing works orders for the manufacturing of parts using CNC lathes, milling machines, laser cutters, press brakes, and welding. This position ensures that all components are available on time to meet production schedules and that works orders are properly managed from inception to completion.
Key Responsibilities:
* Purchasing & Procurement:
o Source and purchase components such as bearings, hydraulic parts, wearing parts, rubber, and other necessary manufacturing materials.
o Manage relationships with UK and international suppliers to ensure competitive pricing, quality, and delivery times.
o Issue purchase orders & track deliveries.
* Works Order Management:
o Create and manage works orders for various manufacturing processes, including CNC lathes, milling, laser cutting, press brakes, and welding.
o Coordinate works orders with the production team to ensure timely availability of materials and adherence to production timelines.
o Track the progress of works orders through the production floor, ensuring that all necessary components are available and correctly allocated.
* Supplier & Inventory Management:
o Monitor and manage stock levels of critical parts and materials, placing re-orders as necessary to avoid production delays.
o Maintain accurate records of stock, including deliveries, usage, and re-order points in the company’s inventory management system.
o Work with suppliers to address quality, lead time, or pricing issues and continuously seek improvements in supply chain performance.
* Cross-functional Collaboration:
o Collaborate with production, engineering, and quality control teams to ensure seamless coordination between purchasing and manufacturing.
o Provide regular updates to management regarding procurement status, works order progress, and potential issues affecting production schedules.
* Documentation & Compliance:
o Maintain detailed and accurate documentation, including purchase orders, works orders, delivery notes, and supplier agreements.
Skills & Qualifications:
* Experience: Proven experience in purchasing, procurement, and works order management within a manufacturing environment, ideally involving CNC machining, welding, or similar processes.
* Technical Knowledge: The ability to read and understand technical drawings. Knowledge of mechanical and hydraulic components.
* Inventory Systems: Proficiency in works order management and inventory control software.
* Negotiation Skills: Strong negotiation skills with the ability to manage supplier relationships and contracts.
* Problem-Solving: Excellent problem-solving skills, particularly in troubleshooting supply chain and production delays.
* Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy in managing works orders, purchasing documentation, and supplier records.
* Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills for interacting with internal teams and suppliers.
* Multitasking: Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
Desirable:
* Manufacturing Experience: Experience working with CNC machinery, metal fabrication, or similar manufacturing processes.
* International Purchasing: Familiarity with international purchasing regulations and dealing with overseas suppliers.

Salary: Competitive, based on experience
