The Role:
We are currently recruiting Electrical Design Engineers of all levels to join our in-house design team based in Southampton. We are a friendly, professional, multi-disciplinary team responsible for managing the design of various projects across the water & energy sectors. We welcome applications from individuals experienced in the water and/or wastewater sectors. Hybrid working is available, with an expectation of being in the office 2-3 days per week and visiting clients or sites as required.
Reporting to the Electrical Design Manager, your responsibilities will include:
1. Managing project-specific design deliverables
2. Carrying out designs in accordance with M&E Design QA procedures
3. Producing detailed designs following company procedures
4. Interpreting client requirements from various documents
5. Communicating with clients, external design resources, and subcontractors to ensure compliance
6. Conducting site surveys of existing assets
7. Performing optioneering and feasibility studies
8. Assisting with tender pricing
9. Producing procurement specifications and detailed design drawings
10. Managing third-party designs and supporting installation and commissioning teams
11. Reviewing vendor control system specifications and data
12. Managing project design costs in liaison with the Project Manager
13. Performing design calculations, including power system modeling
14. Preparing CAD drawings per QA procedures
15. Developing process control philosophies with engineers and suppliers
16. Producing URS documentation and electrical scope of works
17. Estimating material and labor costs
18. Undertaking design risk assessments
19. Preparing electrical specifications and creating diagrams, schedules, and lists
20. Documenting design changes and issuing As-Built documents
21. Liaising with clients and subcontractors
Qualifications/Background:
* An electrical qualification or relevant experience
* Chartered membership of a professional institution is advantageous but not required
