A great opportunity for a qualified Crime Duty Solicitor to join our team based in Eastbourne & Battle. Applications for this role will be considered from Qualified Solicitors or equivalent who are duty solicitor qualified. Candidates will need to have a pro-active approach and be client focused, with a flexible attitude to their work. Duties will include: Proactively manage and prioritise a client-focused caseload, ensuring efficient and effective legal representation. Attend court proceedings and engage in advocacy, representing clients' interests during trials and hearings. Provide legal advice to clients at police stations, assisting them during investigations and questioning. Develop and maintain strong client relationships through effective communication and understanding of their needs. Manage and prioritize support staff workload, ensuring optimal team efficiency and performance. Participate in out-of-hours rotations for attending police stations and providing legal assistance as needed. Contribute to the preparation of crown court cases, collaborating with colleagues to develop comprehensive legal strategies. Pursue and obtain Higher Rights of Audience accreditation, with the opportunity for support and training provided after the probationary period. Person specification: Excellent communication and strong interpersonal and client care skills Interest in becoming Higher Rights of audience accredited/re-accredited. Knowledge of legal guidelines and application procedures Ability to meet targets and work under pressure. Ability to prioritise and work to deadlines. Ability to work as part of a team and provide support as needed. Be proactive when it comes to continued personal development.
