As a Youth Worker, you will provide targeted support to students who face personal, social, or academic challenges, helping them to engage in their education and achieve their full potential. Key Responsibilities Mentoring and Pastoral Support : Build trusting relationships with students, providing them with emotional and behavioural support to help them navigate challenges. Group Interventions : Lead or assist with sessions focused on building social skills, emotional resilience, or conflict resolution. Behaviour Management : Work with students to promote positive behaviours, helping them develop self-regulation and improved engagement in lessons. Collaboration with Staff : Liaise with teachers, SENCOs, and pastoral teams to identify students requiring additional support and develop tailored intervention plans. Classroom Support : Assist teachers in creating an inclusive learning environment, offering in-class support to ensure students remain focused and engaged. Monitoring Progress : Keep detailed records of student interactions and progress, providing feedback to the school’s leadership team and parents/carers. Safeguarding : Ensure the safety and well-being of all students, following the school’s safeguarding policies and procedures. What We’re Looking For Experience with Young People : A background in youth work, education, or a related field, with experience supporting young people in managing emotional or behavioural challenges. Strong Interpersonal Skills : The ability to build rapport with students, staff, and families, fostering a supportive and inclusive environment. Empathy and Patience : A calm, understanding approach to supporting students facing challenges. Adaptability and Initiative : The flexibility to adapt your approach to meet individual needs and handle dynamic situations effectively. Desirable Qualifications : Relevant qualifications in youth work, counselling, or education are beneficial but not essential.
