This role will focus on Environmental, Social and Governance and is responsible for developing and driving ESG and Net Zero strategies and programmes to reduce and manage the company's ESG risks and environmental impacts. The role will have broad involvement in all ESG related workstreams including tracking and reporting key ESG metrics.
The successful candidate is expected to be visible in promoting ESG within the business. The Manager will be expected to be a self-starter who is comfortable working both independently and across multiple business functions.
Responsibilities and Duties
1. Deliver and drive an ESG strategy that is compatible with the company's corporate sustainability strategy and goals.
Environmental
Provides oversight, direction and reporting related to the business's environmental impacts. Key responsibilities will include:
1. Greenhouse gas emissions intensity management including reporting, forecasting and reduction strategies.
2. Advising on influencing strategies for joint venture businesses.
3. Assessing emissions data in relation to acquisitions to identify impact on the company's ESG profile.
Social
Provides oversight, direction and reporting related to the business's social impacts. Key responsibilities will include:
1. Engagement with internal supply chain with respect to human rights, labour standards and equity in the supply chain.
2. Coaching and supporting the company ESG Committees, DE&I, Charities, Education and Social & Wellness.
3. Lead and coach personnel with respect to ESG awareness and in alignment with KPIs.
Governance
Provides internal support and guidance to the organization regarding governance structure, practices and reporting. Key responsibilities will include:
1. Preparation of quarterly shareholder reports with emissions metrics.
2. Remain aware of global ESG regulations and best practices and ensure the company remains aligned, responding where appropriate to changes.
3. Lead preparation of annual sustainability reporting, including but not limited to SECR & TCFD.
4. Engagement with the Board, ESG sub-committee and ELT regarding regulatory changes, business processes and compliance.
5. Responsible for the internal and external ESG reporting and representing the company with regulators, stakeholders and the community.
Qualifications
1. Bachelor's degree in environmental science, Sustainability, Business or related field. A Master's degree or professional certifications in sustainability or ESG would be highly advantageous.
2. Significant degree of relevant oil and gas/chemical/energy industry related experience.
3. Experience of working with external clients and understanding their requirements.
4. Excellent communication skills.
5. Ability to champion ESG within the organisation.
6. Team player and also comfortable working independently.
7. Strong Excel, Word and PPT skills.
