Join to apply for the HR & Recruitment Administrator role at APCL Cammell Laird Shiprepairers & Shipbuilders Limited
HR & Recruitment Administrator - Cammell Laird
First line HR support is critical to our team who work full time on site, so we are looking for an experienced Administrator who thrives being in the thick of things to join the team and support efficient running of our recruitment process and HR functions.
If you are looking for a varied role where you’ll support with administration across the employee lifecycle and have a passion for providing great support to your team, this might be what you are looking for.
So who are we?
Known across the globe at our Birkenhead facility, on the banks of the River Mersey, we expand across 130 acres which includes four dry docks, a large modular construction hall, and extensive covered workshops. We’ve played a strategic role in UK shipbuilding for the past 200 years, repairing, maintaining, and building ships and other vessels.
And what will you do?
* You’ll be working as part of a both proactive and responsive HR team to provide pragmatic and business-focused HR solutions and recommendations to colleagues across the organisation.
* You will be first line HR support with recruitment activity and administration.
* Over time you will build and develop relationships with colleagues at all levels to provide HR support and guidance, advise on process and share best practice.
* You will maintain and update HR databases and employee records to ensure accuracy, completeness, and integrity of data and will provide HR reports when required.
* You’ll process starters, leavers, and amendments to terms and conditions of employment.
* With the HR Team, you’ll be taking minutes of formal meetings, writing letters, and holding return to work meetings.
* As first point of contact with Occupational Health, you’ll ensure we are logging all information and maintaining compliance.
* You’ll draft HR documents such as contracts of employment, offer letters, and disciplinary outcome letters and correspondence.
* With recruitment activities, you’ll draft job specifications/adverts, shortlist, and support in interviews.
* You’ll be a key contact for all new starters including sending contracts, arranging inductions, and ensuring they have completed the Security Clearance required for their position.
And what are we looking for?
* Experience in an HR or Recruitment admin role where you have had to multi-task and adapt to changing (and at times conflicting) timescales and priorities. A CIPD qualification would be useful.
* The ability to behave confidentially with professionalism, empathy, and integrity, while understanding and valuing the contributions of others.
* A positive, proactive, and accountable approach to your role with the ability to demonstrate how you take ownership for problem resolution.
* Employment Law Knowledge and an understanding of how internal policies and procedures operate. Experience working in a Unionised environment would be great.
* IT and reporting skills as well as the ability to communicate at all levels of the business whether verbal or written.
* A full UK Driving Licence will be useful due to the size of the facility.
If you’re ready to take on this challenge, we’d love to hear from you!
