We are seeking a Contractors Engineering Manager for our Stations and buildings framework in the Wales & Western region. We will be delivering several new stations located in West Devon, Somerset and Gloucestershire alongside a series of Access for All (AfA) projects spread across the region between 2024 and 2029.
Using our hybrid working policy you'll be based in our Swindon office, (with the option to work a day a week in Cardiff or Bristol), and home.

You'll be working on…. (what your role and responsibility is)
In this role, you will provide comprehensive support to our Framework Engineering & Assurance Lead, contributing to the successful delivery of projects. Your responsibilities will include:
* Assisting with project support activities and managing Engineering Management Plans.
* Ensuring the use of competent in-house and external engineering resources.
* Overseeing in-house and subcontract design deliveries, including consultants.
* Supporting project teams with risk management, commercial, and compliance issues.
* Assisting in appointing design/engineering roles and reviewing design briefs.
* Managing project interfaces, hazards, and temporary conditions.
* Liaising with designers and stakeholders, ensuring smooth project execution.
* Participating in value engineering and constructability reviews.
* Providing technical support and solutions to construction teams.
* Leading temporary works development and assurance documentation processes.
* Mentoring and promoting professional growth among engineers and graduates.
* Facilitating knowledge sharing across the business, especially in design and engineering.

About you…. (what you are skilled at)
* Professionally qualified engineer with demonstrable experience in the role of Contractor's Engineering Manager.
* Proven experience in the delivery of multidisciplinary rail projects. Your previous/background experience will likely have been within construction and/or design and now you are looking to use your depth of knowledge in support of others.
* In-depth knowledge of construction techniques and processes commonly used across rail infrastructure projects for both permanent & temporary works, with a clear understanding of the particular multi-disciplinary coordination issues associated with stations, footbridges and other lineside buildings.
* Practical and working knowledge of the procedures associated with the delivery of new stations or AFA schemes for Network Rail.
* Experience of the CDM 2015 regulations and how they can be implemented successfully to ensure the safe delivery of our project with a focus on Design & Engineering.
* Detailed understanding of the Interoperability Regs and the application of CSM-RA.
* Clear and confident communication skills with the authority to direct and influence.

* Degree qualified civil/structural engineer; Chartered Engineer.
* SMSTS (preferred).
* CDM Regulations training and practiced in application.
* Temporary works coordinator or experience in application.
* Level 1 Audit qualifications (preferred).
* LEAN advocate (preferred).
* Behavioural safety training e.g. StopThink, Zero Harm, ELITE or similar (preferred).
